Russ represents both defendants and plaintiffs in complex commercial disputes.

Prior to joining Burns Charest, Russ worked at a nationally renowned litigation boutique in Dallas, fighting hard for his clients when the stakes were at their highest. He has represented Fortune 100 companies and high net-worth individuals in disputes ranging from multi-million dollar breach of contract claims to $100 million-plus antitrust claims to billion-dollar trust litigation. He has also litigated several cases involving complex federal statutes, including those related to aviation and environmental protection. His efforts have resulted in many favorable outcomes for his clients.

Russ also practiced at an international law firm based in Houston, where he

  • Successfully defended global energy company from billion-dollar business tort claims (claims dismissed with prejudice during trial);
  • Assisted the African subsidiary of a major oilfield services company resolve threatened enforcement action and related contract dispute with national government;
  • Represented a major international oil company as global coordinating counsel for disputes pending in the U.S and multiple overseas jurisdictions over bankruptcy acquisition; and
  • Represented former security holders of a retail electric provider in their suit against acquirer over post-closing accounting adjustments.

Russ attended Harvard Law School, serving as Senior Editor on the Harvard Environmental Law Review and winning first-place in the Williston Negotiation Competition. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from Dartmouth College.
